Shelley Anderson

I received my M.S.W. and Ph.D. in Clinical Social Work from New York University. I have been a practicing psychotherapist for 34 years and counting. I work with individuals, couples, families and groups to help persons develop self-awareness, enhance communication, resolve conflicts and reach the fulfillment they deserve in their lives.

Sadness, worry, disappointment, misconnections with the persons with whom we most wish to be in harmony… For too many of us, these dissatisfactions have become the background buzzing of our everyday lives. We may try to tune those vibrations out, but often something happens, a small or enormous change, and then everything is suddenly there, present in our lives and our hearts. If this happens in your life, you need real help.

Psychotherapists like me used to say that we deal with a person’s “problems in living.” Yet recently, many therapists seem to have called themselves “specialists.” Yes, I do specialize in depression, anxiety, and the pain of loss, low self-esteem, and what can be difficult transitions in life.

If you are seeking help, you need someone who not only has specialized skills and experience, but a human being who listens intently to you; Someone who can find the unique way that special knowledge applies to you in your particular situation.
